Wondering About Lions & Land of Lions

-Land of Lions is located in the Side neighborhood of Manavgat district.

-Lions can live in Türkiye. Lions can only be kept in zoos by law.

-Tigers are the world’s biggest cats, they are bigger, longer and weigh more than lions.

-Lions are crowned the kings of the jungle due to their majestic mane and social hierarchy, whereas tigers dominate with their sheer strength, solitary nature, and agility.

-Generally, all the large carnivores (bears, wolves, lions) avoid confrontations with each other in the wild.

-Male lions will eat first at a kill, while the females and cubs wait their turn. The females put up with this behavior because the males offer protection for the pride. The beautiful big mane of a male not only shows status but also protects the male’s neck during a fight.

-From time to time this raises the question, “it is normal for lions to sleep so much?” The answer is a resounding yes! In short, copious amounts of beauty rest (up to 20 hours a day!) is a natural lion behavior that helps this iconic species preserve energy for when they really need it.

-Female lions are called lionesses. Lions are primarily ambush predators.

-The lion’s worst enemy is the hyena. Hyenas eat the same food as lions, so the lions and the hyenas often come into conflict over food. The only other enemy the lions have is people. Unfortunately the beautiful fur of a lion is very valuable on black markets.
